Hurricane Melissa caused severe damage in Black River, Jamaica, resulting in significant loss of employment and housing for many residents. According to Jamaica’s Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management, approximately 355,612 households were affected, with a preliminary estimate of 90,000 households displaced and 215,000 buildings damaged. Numerous homes in Black River experienced complete roof loss, while others sustained substantial roof damage.
We Got You Through Disaster Corporation will partner with a local organization to assist up to ten financially disadvantaged residents in repairing or replacing their roofs.
Our goal is to raise $54,000 to cover material cost (zinc, rafters, sledge, groove & tongue, nails, screws, etc.) and labor cost. Please support this program by donating a minimum of $10. Your donation will go a long way towards providing roof for families who are in need.

Hurricane Melissa inflicted significant damage upon Black River, Jamaica, including the destruction of the primary market, a crucial source of fresh produce for the community. In response, World Central Kitchen (WCK) implemented a relief operation, providing daily meals to residents impacted by the disaster. Before concluding their support efforts, WCK distributed grocery boxes (pictured) to approximately 300 individuals, enabling them to prepare meals independently.
We Got You Through Disaster Corporation will partner with a local organization to provide grocery boxes to 100 families experiencing financial hardship, for a duration of four months.
Our goal is to raise $28,800 to start this needed program. Please support the grocery gift box program by donating a minimum of $10. Your donation will go a long way towards assisting those families.
WGYTD's policy is that all gifts designated for a specific program be applied to that program, with up to 10 percent used for administrative and fundraising expenses. When we receive more contributions for a given program than can be wisely applied to that program, we use these funds to meet a similar pressing need. Please support WGYTD by making a minimum donation of $10 to support our programs. Thank you for your support!
